Lifepo4 Battery 12v – High Performance, Low Weight
Lifepo4 battery 12v (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries are some of the most popular off-grid solar power system batteries. They offer a long cycle life, lighter weight and higher capacity than traditional lead acid batteries.
A good LiFePO4 battery has a BMS that is responsible for monitoring the cell temperature, curtailing charge and discharge currents, balancing cells when they are fully charged and disconnecting the battery from the charger when it becomes too full or threatens to overcharge it. This ensures a safe and consistent charging experience.
What Voltage should I charge my LiFePO4 battery at?
The optimum charge Voltage for LiFePO4 batteries is around 14.4 Volts. This is a little higher than AGM and lead acid batteries but not as much as some of the other lithium battery technologies.
Why does my lithium battery need a BMS?
Because LiFePO4 battery can be damaged by being over-charged or over-discharged. This can lead to overheating of the cells, damage to your battery structure or accessories, and a fire.
Why LiFePO4 Batteries are the Future of 12V Energy Storage
The total number of charging cycles that a battery can have is limited by its internal resistance. Therefore, the higher the internal resistance of a battery, the lower the number of charging cycles it can have. A good LiFePO4 battery should have an internal resistance of 20 mO or less. This will make the charging process faster, but also prevent overheating of the battery and a fire.
